Satya Jay is an Australian visual artist who creates observational paintings and inventive illustrations, which can be accompanied by installations of mixed media sculpture. Satya most often works with oil or gouache paints on variety of board or canvas.

Satya Jay is an Australian visual artist who creates observational paintings and inventive illustrations, which can be accompanied by installations of mixed media sculpture. Satya most often works with oil or gouache paints on variety of board or canvas.
Her work questions our relationship with ourselves, each other, and the natural world. Satya’s work draws from fauvism, surrealism, and impressionism. It is often inspired by historical phenomenon’s, theories of perception, folklore and philosophies over the world.
While her work often explores representation of the feminine figure, satya also likes to observe typically insignificant areas and occurrences, finding affinity and romance in discarded objects and places, with untold stories.

Melbourne-based artist, Satya Jay, has been honing her skills in painting, design, sculpture, and illustration for over a decade. Her work has been exhibited in four group shows which have taken place at the institutions where she has studied, these being Latrobe College of Art and Design, Melbourne Polytechnic and Footscray City College.

Her artwork in the ‘Movement’ exhibition at Melbourne Polytechnic was sold to a private collector in 2019. Satya has produced privately commissioned mural work, body art, and portraiture in Melbourne.
